My name is Joy Jinks and my claim to fame is that I am the co-founder of Swamp Gravy, Georgia's folk-life play. For the past 20 years the people of Colquitt have created a new produciton based on the stories of the residents of the town. The plays, whose title is always Swamp Gravy, with a sub-title, have created a cultural tourism industry in this town of 2,000 people in a rural county of 6,400 in the ninth poorest congressional district in the United States. Colquitt has become a national model of community development through the Arts and culture. Even more importantly, Swamp Gravy has started a Movement as other communities in the States and abroad celebrate themselves and tell their stories. In this blog I will "Tell the Story" of Colquitt and its community, economic and Human developemt through the avenue of Story. So stay tuned. Joy
